A Effect of Clay-based Art Therapy Program to Increase Internal Locus of Control of Participants in Gateway Project

Abstract
Twenty years after the start of gateway project aimed a self-sufficiency through the entry of the poor into the labor market, the performance of the gateway business is not noticeable. The low self-esteem, self-confidence, and distrust on of the gateway participants, which are raised as the cause of the ineffectiveness of the gateway project, led to low job-seeking efficacy. This has been analyzed as a direct effect on job failure. The purpose of this research is to provide clay-based art therapy to gateway participants and to raise the internal LOC(Locus of Control) by supporting them to accumulate success experiences. Rotter¡¯s I-E LOC(Internal-External Locus of Control) scale test was used as a research tool. The study group consisted of the following three groups: 1. non-intervention gateway group 2. intervention gateway group 3. non-gateway group. SPSS 22.00 was used to verify the mean difference of the non-gateway group and gateway group, and the pre-post LOC scores of non-intervention gateway group and intervention gateway group were analyzed using the corresponding sample t-test and the independent sample t-test. As qualitative data, program satisfaction survey questionnaire, artworks result, conversation contents during sessions were used. The results of the study are as follows: 1. gateway participants showed lower internal LOC than non-gateway 2. clay-based art therapy for gateway participants had a positive effect on the change of LOC.
